The Manaiakalani Film Festival by Michael

Room 4 thought it would be awesome to think about what we might like to be when we grow up.  When we grow up there are lots of things we could do and be. We had lots of fun making our movie, dressing up in the different costumes and learning the dances.

We learnt that it is important to think about what you might want to be when you grow up and there are lots of choices. I was very interested to find out more about Martin Luther King. He was a man who was responsible for his actions.

Our movie was also shown at the Tamaki Primary Academy Awards.

Independent Writing - Michael

Room 4 have been practicing their writing goals. We would love it if you could help us by commenting on our writing. Please tell us if you think we have achieved our goal, and what else you think we can work on!
Thank you for listening to all of our stories.

Photosynthesis by Michael

My favourite thing about photosynthesis is that the stomata helps the leaves breathe by sucking in the carbon-dioxide from the air and turning it into oxygen for us!

THE ENORMOUS KUMERA By Michael

Once upon a time, a long time ago, there was a family that wanted some kumara. There were four boys and eight girls in the family. The boys were mean and the girls were kind. They lived in a small cottage in a forest. One day the father went out to the garden. He saw a humongous kumara! He tried to pull it out but it was so huge so he called one of his daughters to help him. They still couldn’t pull it out.

The next day the kumara kept growing larger and larger. It grew enormous! Then the father tried to pull it out again. He pulled and pulled but it didn’t come out. So he called to Mrs Manuyag, “Come and help me!” Mrs Manuyag came and tried to help him. They pulled and pulled but they still couldn’t get it out.

So they called Siale and Sheryline to try and help. “Siale! Sheryline! Come and help!” So they came and helped to try and pull up the enormous kumara. They pulled and pulled but it still didn’t come out. So they called for Macy the cat. “Macy! Come and help us pull out the kumara.”  Macy came to help and they all pulled until it came out with a “Boom!!”

They all fell to the ground and then carried the kumara inside. Mrs Manuyag and Carmilo made dinner for everyone – even Macy the cat! And everyone lived happily ever after.
